The European Selection event for the Bocuse d’Or 2011
The curtain will rise on the second edition of the Bocuse d’Or Europe. The scene will take place at Geneva in Switzerland on June 7th and 8th, 2010 as part of the "Gourmet" trade exhibition. It will be presided over by prestigious three-star chef Philippe Rochat and directed by Roland Pierroz, a pioneer of Swiss gastronomy. On this occasion, 20 European chefs will compete in order to win not only the European Bocuse title, but also to obtain a ticket for the Bocuse d’Or 2011 final event.

With Geir SKEIE, Restaurant Mathuset Solvold - SANDEFJORD NORWAY is the winner of the Bocuse d’Or 2009
As part of the Sirha at Lyon, 24 Chefs from the four corners of the planet pitted their skills against each another on January 27th and 28th in their attempt to win the Bocuse d'Or title.
For more than twenty years the Bocuse d'Or has been staging the most beautiful gourmet creations in the world in the manner of a haute couture fashion show. Working in contest kitchens set up facing the public, 24 chefs from all over the world took up the challenge to create two perfect dishes within 5 hrs 35 minutes. They had to achieve this feat as part of a grandiose show, using the official products of the Bocuse d'Or 2009: Aberdeen Angus Beef for the meat dish and Norwegian cod, king scallops and wild prawns for the fish dish. The ceremony for the presentation of the prizes took place on January 28th 2009 in the presence of Paul Bocuse, President-founder of the event, and of Daniel Boulud, President of Honour of the 2009 edition.
1 - Geir SKEIE, Restaurant Mathuset Solvold - Sandefjord, representing NORWAY is the winner of the Bocuse d’Or 2009. He was presented with the Bocuse d'Or trophy, created by Christine Delessert, also with 20,000 in prize money.
2 - Jonas LUNDGREN, representing SWEDEN achieved the second place and was presented with the Bocuse d'Argent silver trophy created by Christine Delessert, also with 15,000 in prize money.
3 - Philippe MILLE, Hôtel Le Meurice - Paris,, representing FRANCE achieved the 3rd place and was presented with the Bocuse de Bronze trophy created by Christine Delessert, also with 10,000 in prize money. Several Special

The 24 countries of the Bocuse d'Or 2009 are now known. The International Organizing Committee has awarded the two Wild Cards to Belgium and South Africa.
Participating countries in the next edition of the Bocuse d’Or are therefore:

GEIR SKEIE FROM NORWAY WINS BOCUSE D’OR EUROPE 2008
Geir Skeie is the best chef in Europe, after getting most points from the jury in Bocuse d’Or Europe 2008, in Stavanger, Norway. 20 chefs prepared dishes of Norwegian salmon and lamb for 5,5 hours, and they all did exceptionally well. This is the first time a European Championship for individual chefs has been arranged.
On the next places, we find Jasper Kure from Denmark and Jonas Lundgren from Sweden, number 2 and 3. 12 of the chefs are now qualified to participate in Bocuse d’Or in Lyon in 27th and 28th of January, 2009.
Denmark, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Norway are already prequalfied.
Finland, Iceland, Netherlands, Czech Repulic, Estiona, United Kingdom, Luxembourg are the other qualified countries.

NEW OFFICIAL FISH PRODUCT BOCUSE D’OR 2009 :
The International Organization Committee of the Bocuse d’Or decided to remove the Lobster from the list of the Official Products. In order to protect species, it will be replaced by Deep water Prawns and Dive Great Scallop. These two products will come with the Cod to the Bocuse d’Or 2009.

Yasuji SASAKI from Japan wins the first Bocuse d'Or Asia edition
The first Bocuse d’Or Asia gathered 10 countries during Gourmet World Shanghai,
29th-31st of May 2008, at Pudong Expo in Shanghai-China.
Organised by GL Events/SepelCom, this event is part of a movement that consists
in setting up new continental steps on the road to the Bocuse d’Or World Finals
in Lyons, which is to be held during Sirha, the International Restaurant Hotel and
Food Trade Exhibition (24th-28th of January 2009).
The purpose for the organiser is to open up the competition to new countries and
give them a chance to enter the very coveted club of top gastronomic nations.
The 10 countries that competed were: China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Singapore,
South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The competition took place with the attendance of very prestigious persons from the top-cooking
world: Mr Otto WEIBEL, the chef of the famous Singapore Swiss Hotel the Raffles was its President,
Madam Liu YANG Vice President of the Chinese Cuisine Association (CCA) on behalf of Mr. Qiucheng Su,
President of CCA, its Honorary President, and Mr Terje NESS, Bocuse d’Or Winner in 1999, the
President of the jury.
The following prices have been awarded:
Yasuji SASAKI from Japan is the winner and has been awarded by Mr DITTMANN & Mr HOUPERT from
the Official Sponsor of the contest ENODIS, a magnificent glass blown gold trophy made by French artist
Vincent Breed and a 10.000 Euro (102.000Yuans) prize money.
Farouk B. OTHMAN from Malaysia achieved second place and has been awarded a silver trophy and a
7.500 Euros (76.210 Yuans) prize money.
Jason TAN from Singapore achieved third place and has been awarded a bronze trophy and a 5.000
Euros (51.150 Yuans ) prize money.
As Japan was already qualified to the Lyons World Finals (Japan was in the Top 6 of the last Bocuse
d’Or), the 4th country has come to be selected too.
It is South Korea, with Jun-Hi LEE as national candidate.
The best Commis price has been awarded to Mohamad AL SAYED from Lebanon by Mr Terje NESS, also
Member of the Bocuse d’Or Winners Academy.

10 countries will compete during Gourmet World Shanghai
Pudong Expo May 29th-31st
The first Bocuse d’Or Asia will gather 10 countries during Gourmet
World Shanghai 29th-31st of May 2008 at Pudong Expo in Shanghai-
China. This event, organised by GL events SepelCom, is part of the
development started in 2005 and consisting in setting up a new
continental steps on the road to the final Bocuse d’Or competition in
Lyon during Sirha. The purpose for the organiser is to open up to new
countries and give them a chance to enter the very coveted club of top
gastronomic nations. 10 countries will compete, 4 will be selected. This
new contest is also to become a major culinary event in Asia. The
winner will be granted the title of “Asian Bocuse d’Or champion”.
Following its strategy of creating continental selection for the Bocuse d’Or, GL events-
SepelCom will launch Bocuse d’Or Asia to be held 29th-31st of May 2008 during the Gourmet
World Shanghai trade exhibition in Pudong Expo Centre, Shanghai China.
10 countries will compete in this new event :

· Malaysia,
· Singapore,
· South Korea,
· Thailand,
· Vietnam,
The major purpose is to open up to new countries and give them a chance to take part in the
most coveted culinary trophy in the World. 6 countries will compete for the first time: India,
Indonesia, South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand. They will try to get their ticket for
Lyon.
Each candidate will have 3 hours to cook a Norwegian salmon and will present it on plates
with 2 garnishes.
The jury will be composed of one celebrity chef from each competing country. Otto Weibel,
the famous chef from Swiss Hotel the raffles in Singapore is the president of the contest.
Mister Qiucheng Su, chairman of the Chinese Cuisine Association (CCA) will be the
honorary president of the jury, Terje Ness, Bocuse d’Or 1999 from Norway will be the
president of the jury.

20 chefs from 20 European countries will take part in the Bocuse d’Or Europe. Twelve of them will be selected for the Bocuse d’Or 2009 finals in Lyons. Five countries - France, Denmark, Switzerland, Norway and Sweden – have already qualified thanks to their performance in the 2007 edition of the Bocuse d’Or.
In addition to their passport for the Bocuse d’Or finals, the best chefs at the Bocuse d’Or Europe will be awarded a new prestigious title, that of European Champion. Moreover, the top three candidates will receive :
- 1st prize : €12 000 together with the European Champion trophy
- 2nd prize : €9 000
- 3rd prize : €6 000
A special Fish prize and a special Meat prize will also be awarded. Additionally a prize for the best assistant will be presented by the Bocuse d’Or Academy.
