In February 2008 the Netherlands has selected the candidate for the Bocuse d'Or Europe competition in Stavanger, Norway. In July 2008 the Dutch candidate was selected as candidate for the Bocuse d'Or competition in Lyon 2009.
The Dutch team consists of Mr. Wim Klerks, chef at restaurant Les Jumeaux in Bennebroek.
Mr Klerks is assisted by his commis, Mr Ronald Bellaart.
Coach of the team is Mr Marco Poldervaart, patron-cuisinier of restaurant De Gastronoom in Harlingen.
Wim Klerks and Marco Poldervaart know each other for a long time. They have common competition experience as both are member of the Dutch national culinary team.
President of the Dutch Bocuse d'Or organisation (Bocuse d'Or Nederland) is Mr André van Doorn.
Mr Van Doorn is a well-known chef in The Netherlands with an long and outstanding career.
Mr Van Doorn is patron-cuisinier of Restaurant Kasteel Heemstede in Houten. The restaurant is part of a historic castle from the 17th century.

Dutch candidate Bocuse d´Or 2009 Wim Klerks
Wim Klerks, 38 years old was born as the youngest child in a family with 6 children in Nieuwe Wetering a little village between Amsterdam and The Hague.
Wim is married and father of 4 young children, 2 boys and 2 girls aged between 2 ½ and 7 years old.
Wim is a season man who lives with nature. He has many related hobby’s.
In a large part of the year, and certainly in the winter season, Wim is an enthusiastic skater. Twice a week he visits a skating rink to train his skills.
In spring and autumn Wim spends time fishing at the Kagerplassen a lake area in the neighbourhood. Of course the catched fish, mostly ……… will be on the menu. Another favourite hobby is fishing and smoking eel.
During the summer onths when the weather is fine, he spends time with his family and friends on and near the water. Sailing and swimming.
On top of this Wim is a member of the local brass band where he plays the trombone.
Wim Klerks loves to be outside. If time is available he works in his garden, growing his herbs, vegetables and flowers and takes care of the animals who are also part of the Klerks’ family.
