The most prestigious haute cuisine contest in the world - the Bocuse d’Or - has now celebrated 20 years of success.  This exceptional springboard for today’s young talents has become an extraordinary media show, a true “Formula 1” for Chefs. With the creation of the Bocuse d’Or Europe, Paul Bocuse now confidently turns toward the future and the 20 years to come for this gastronomy theatre. Norway has been selected to host the first edition of the event in 2008, at Stavanger. New countries will have the opportunity of qualifying for participation in the 2009 finals, to be held in Lyons.  The contest will be a difficult one, and the Chefs’ performances will be comparable to that of extreme sports athletes.  The level of quality required will be nothing less than perfection. In these times of globalisation, when nations tend to resemble each other more and more, culinary savoir-faire represents a strong element contributing to promote the specific identity of each country. We are convinced that we will succeed in creating, at Stavanger, a contest in keeping with the philosophy of the legendary Bocuse d’Or: a springboard for new talents accompanied by a media show celebrating, appropriately, gastronomy; this in the generous and warm atmosphere characteristic of the Norwegian people.
