More broadly, METRO applies the same unique expertise and passionate approach to support its gastronomy professional customers for their successful business.

The wholesale firm carried on the primary partnership with Bocuse d'Or at the 2014 European final in Stockholm and Asia final in Shanghai respectively. In the Asia final METRO exclusively supplied meat and fish ingredients for the contestants to perform. During these two regional competitions, its local subsidiaries from France, Germany, the Netherlands Denmark, Hungary and Japan supported their contestants to qualify for the 2015 Lyon world final. All these finalists will continue to benefit from METRO's extensive assistance in the run-up to the celebrated world championship.  Beyond Lyon 2015, METRO is expected to renew the cooperation with Bocuse d'Or for its 2016 European final in Hungary.

METRO's close and meaningful partnership with Bocuse d'Or dates back to 2005 with its successful French subsidiary having become sponsor of the culinary event in its homeland. Today METRO Cash & Carry France operating 93 wholesale markets diligently serves catering businesses and professional kitchen. With 45,000 references, METRO Cash & Carry France proposes a wide range of food products and equipment, professional consumables and office consumables. The company is committed to delivering relevant, local and fast responses to address unique needs of specific customer segments. In particular it proudly supplies in France 400,000 catering professionals, of which 250,000 independent restaurant owners and 80% of French star-awarded chefs.

METRO France has developed its local and regional sourcing all over the country. The company launched the "Filière Région" label (seafood, meat and fruits & vegetables), which ensures rigorous selection of the best products, promotion of the region of origin, a delivery time of 48 hours and better traceability. METRO France launched also the "100% local" Charter that promotes local vegetable growing and guarantees freshness - vegetables from farms within a 50-km radius of the store are on METRO shelves right after the harvest.

In order to assist leading chefs, enabling them to nurture their inspiration and their creativity, the company developed its METRO Premium approach: exceptional products and tailor-made services, illustrated by the publication METRO Premium which is issued four times a year.
