The Estonian Bocuse d'Or Academy launched its search for the country's next representative through a national selection process coordinated by the Culinary Institute of Estonia.
The process culminated on 26 September 2025 and was open to ambitious Estonian chefs aged 24 and over seeking the opportunity to compete on the international stage. Candidates progressed through several stages, including an application process, interviews and a local competition round, before the final representative was selected.
The initiative aimed to identify the chef best prepared to represent Estonia in the Bocuse d'Or competition cycle.
Results of the Selection
Following the national selection process, Joonas Koppel was chosen to represent Estonia. Selected through a rigorous multi-stage evaluation, he earned the opportunity to carry Estonia's colours into the next phase of the Bocuse d'Or competition.
His selection reflects the confidence placed in his abilities and his potential to showcase Estonian gastronomy on the international stage.
Estonia placed last in the ranking out of the 20 competing teams during the European selections that took place in Marseille in March of 2026. The team therefore did not qualify for the Grand Finale in January 2027.
