The Mauritian National Selection

Mauritius held its Bocuse d'Or national selection on 9 September 2025 at the Sir Gaëtan Duval Hotel School

Six candidates competed in the ninth edition of the competition, which was organised to determine who would represent the island at the Bocuse d'Or Africa Continental Selection in Agadir in 2026. Under the theme"Cultural Heritage", candidates were challenged through a demanding 5.5-hour competition combining a plated dish and a platter presentation.

Beyond technical skills, the event also assessed leadership, management abilities and the capacity to represent Mauritian gastronomy on the international stage.

Following the competition, Nitlesh Beharee was selected to represent Mauritius. A graduate of the Sir Gaëtan Duval Hotel School, he developed his culinary career in some of Mauritius' most prestigious establishments, including Anahita Golf & Spa Resort and One&Only Le Saint Géran, where he progressed to the position of Sous Chef.

Seeking to broaden his horizons, he later gained experience in the United States, notably at Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley and Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club in Cape Cod. His career reflects a deep commitment to excellence, innovation and the promotion of Mauritian culinary culture.

As the winner of the national selection, Nitlesh Beharee now carries the ambition of representing Mauritius on the international Bocuse d'Or stage and showcasing the richness of the island's unique gastronomic heritage.
