Iceland's Bocuse d'Or national selection took place in Reykjavík on 29 March 2025.
Three candidates competed for the opportunity to represent the country in the next stage of the Bocuse d'Or cycle. At the conclusion of the event, the Bocuse d'Or Iceland organization announced the chef who would go on to carry Iceland's colours on the international stage.
Snædís Xyza Mae Jónsdóttir Leads Team Iceland
The person chosen to represent Iceland at the European selections in March 2026 was Snædís Xyza Mae Jónsdóttir.
Snædís is head chef at the Fröken Reykjavík restaurant in the Saga Hotel in Reykjavík. She grew up in Dalvík, in Eyjafjörður, and has gained extensive experience in the catering and hospitality sector. She has also been actively involved in the Icelandic national culinary team, both as captain in 2020, when the team secured third place at the IKA Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart, and as coach of the team from 2023 to 2025, notably during their third-place finish at the IKA Culinary Olympics in 2024.
Competing against 20 European nations, the Icelandic team achieved an excellent 10th place, thereby securing the final qualifying spot for the Bocuse d’Or Grand Finale, which will take place at the Sirha trade fair in Lyon in January 2027.
