Romania National Selection

Romania's Bocuse d'Or national selection is scheduled to take place on 27 November 2025 at the Arena Bucătarilor Hub in Romania

Open to a maximum of 12 candidates, the competition is organised by ANBCT, the National Association of Chefs and Pastry Chefs of Romania, with the objective of identifying the chef who will represent the country on the European stage.

Inspired by the theme "Tradition Reimagined", the selection challenges candidates to showcase local ingredients through contemporary techniques and creative interpretation, while highlighting seasonality, sustainability and the reinvention of traditional Romanian products. Competitors will work notably with Romanian premium trout and a regional vegetable basket, celebrating Romanian culinary heritage in a modern fine-dining context.

Representing Romania on the International Stage

Vasilică Bejenaru has been selected to represent Romania.

An award-winning Romanian chef, he notably won silver and bronze medals at the 2024 IKA Culinary Olympics, as well as the titles of Arena Bucătarilor and GastroPan Laureate

He will be supported by coach Liviu Petre, who brings more than 30 years of professional gastronomy experience and an extensive record of international distinctions, and by commis Fabian Andrei Lupoi, winner of the Best Commis Award at Romania's first Bocuse d'Or national selection. Together, they form Team Romania for the next stage of the Bocuse d'Or competition cycle.

Romania positioned 18th out of 20 countries in the European Bocuse d'Or Selections, and therefore did not qualify for this cycle's Grand Finale.
